Jon Close has coached, trained, and mentored small business and not-for-profit leaders across Canada for over 30 years. He is a certified member of the John Maxwell Team, has been certified to deliver proven leadership programs offered through the Ken Blanchard Institute, and is certified as a Human Behaviour Specialist. Angela Folino

Angela Folino

Angela Folino's primary focus is business litigation. She has represented a variety of clients ranging from large national corporations to small, privately-held corporations and individuals. Angela works closely with clients to resolve disputes in a timely, efficient manner. Her experience includes general commercial and civil litigation, and contract disputes and negligence claims in aviation, pharmacy and PharmaCare, construction and builders' liens, employment and real property. Angela has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia.

Jeremy is PRA Group's Internal Audit practice leader and works with numerous clients on a multitude of internal audit related engagements across Canada. With over a decade of service at the firm, Jeremy ensures that PRA Group maintains a high standard of professionalism, abiding by the Institute of Internal Audit Standards. Jeremy is highly engaged in the leadership of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Canada and has held numerous board and committee roles. In addition to his CA, Jeremy also holds both a CIA and CFA designation.

Andy Poprawa

As a former regulator with 35 years' experience, in senior regulatory, governance, financial, risk management and leadership roles, Andy served as President and CEO of the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario, and as a senior regulator with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. He is also a co-founder and long time chair of the International Credit Union Regulators Network. Andy serves on a number of boards, works with credit unions, and provides strategic advice to regulators around the world.

Kelly Samuels

Kelly Samuels has a general business law practice, providing advice to clients on transactional and business activities. She advises clients on negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, financing arrangements, corporate reorganizations, property leases, securities, employment and privacy-related issues, and purchase and sale transactions. Kelly advises credit unions in all aspects of their business, including regulatory compliance and privacy matters. She has a special interest in the Fintech sector in Canada and the potential applications of decentralized blockchain technology.

Jannine Scheurmann

Jannine Scheurmann

Finance and Enterprise Risk Management Consultant Jannine Scheurmann is well experienced in the BC credit union system. During a career of more than 27 years, Jannine has held the position of Vice President, Risk for First West Credit Union, as well as Vice President, Risk & Compliance and Senior Manager, Controller at Island Savings Credit Union. Jannine was also a Senior Manager, Audit at Grant Thornton LLP, where she was responsible for several credit union audits on Vancouver Island. Jannine has worked extensively with Boards and executive management teams.

Randy Tanaka

Randy Tanaka

Randy Tanaka’s Level Five Strategic Partners Inc. was formed in 2002 from discretionary services no longer offered by Credit Union Central of Ontario. Level Five offers services to credit unions across Canada, including director and board training, self-assessments, strategic planning, mergers, sustainability planning, and asset and liability management. Randy has more than 35 years of credit union experience, an Honours B.A. in Economics, and is a graduate of the Canadian Securities Course and the Leadership Foundations Program.

Fred Zdan

Fred Zdan

Fred leads the Risk Advisory Services practice at PRA Group. With more than 25 years of financial institutions experience in audit, finance, governance, and risk management, Fred works with clients across Canada to find workable, relevant solutions to risk management issues. Fred delivers ERM Services to a number of financial institution clients as well as provides advisory services in board governance, finance, and regulatory matters. Fred holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
